3 Weeks

Sorry for the lack of updates but I have been busy lately...really busy the last 3 weeks in fact. I have been felling bad about not updating so here is a quick one as my sleeping little lady dreams peacefully.

My life has been turned upside down in the best possible waythe last 3 Weeks! How you might be wondering: I have not been on time anywhere in the last three weeks, my usual shower time (if I get one) is after 1pm, I have never used Google so much in my life....I obsessively search for answers to my silly first time mommy concerns, I purposely don't look in the mirror for fear I will see how tired I look, I am almost positive that no matter how much laundry I do everything I own has some spitup, drool or other baby stuff on it and I never thought a tiny hand holding mine could make me tear up every time best of all my world now revolves around the most precious, beautiful little thing ever and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I promise to update more later but here is a picture of my little peanut and I am off to hopefully get in a shower before that little peanut wakes to eat again!

A New Friday Night

Annie and I are just sitting here cuddling and watching TV (getting ready for a Friday night fav..Dateline!) I could stare at her forever! I spend so much time looking at her every feature and it amazes me everyday when I notice something new. She has my fingers, but her daddy's toes. She has my nose but her daddy's lips. She is so amazing in every way. People tell you all the time that you will feel like this when you become a parent but it is really unbelievable. I love my life, I love my best girl and have never been happier! And all this is coming after I spent half my day getting peed and pooped on at A's newborn photo shoot :) All you can do is laugh until you cry! Off to watch Dateline and get some sleep, hopefully!

She is here!

Well, Our little precious lady arrived a week ago! And I am now getting a chance to update our blog with the news...we have been busy :)

Anniston Grace Ricks ("Annie") arrived April 28th at 2:07am. She was 7lbs 4oz and 20 inches long! It was a wonderful experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. You feel so empowered and holding that baby at the end was something I will never forget! She is truly a dream come true! Also, I am pretty sure we set some sort of record for delivery and everything because no one ever thought it would go that fast!

We had set up an induction for the morning of the 28th (6am ish) so that Adam would fly in and be there. The plan though was that since I was not progressing on my own at all that the doctor would use Cervadil overnight on Tuesday to get me ready for the Pitocin (induction med) on Wednesday morning. My mom took me to the hospital at 5 on Tuesday night and I got settled in, saw my doctor who said still nothing going on yet, and then got the Cervadil. I remember my doctor standing in my room saying "Cervadil hardly ever puts anyone into labor, you'll just feel crampy and then we will get things going in the morning..." Kiss of death?, I think so!

Within an hour of getting the Cervadil, I was miserable, asking for anything to take the pain away, and getting looks from the nurses like, "this girl is in for it if she thinks Cervadil hurts" After much begging to be checked and take the Cervadil out, they gave in and checked me. Low and behold, I was 2cm dilated! After two hours of crazy pain and contractions right on top of each other I was checked and told I was 5 and my water then broke. At this point my mom had gone home...I was just suppose to be crampy and getting some sleep so she had left....I called her back and told her she needed to get back her NOW! I got my epidural and was comfortable for maybe two more hours and then I was 8 cm and the dreaded call to Adam had to be made. He wasn't going to make it in time :( I was for sure going to deliver before 7:30am the next morning.

And sure enough, after 40 minutes of pushing, our angel was here, and her daddy was listening to it all on speaker phone. I can't imagine how long this night was for him knowing his baby girl was here and he couldn't see her yet! He got in the next morning at 7:30 and we got to spend Wednesday, Thursday together in the hospital, came home Friday and Daddy had to go back to baseball on Saturday early morning. I know it was probably the hardest thing he has ever had to do :( Annie and I miss him so much but are adjusting and getting into a routine. I am loving on my little lady every chance I get...cuddling, kissing and snuggling and actually enjoying my time in the middle of the night with her...it is so peaceful in the middle of the night and I could just stare at her forever!

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and congrats! They mean the world to us!

Time to go, my best girl is waking up and looks hungry! I am truly loving mommyhood so far and promise to post as much as Annie allows me to :) What a journey we are on!

April 28th!

Well, we have a tentative birthday set! Only 11 days away too! I can't believe I will be a mommy in 11 days!! (or less if this little girl decides to come earlier)

Everything is still looking great with the baby and I still feel really good! Uncomfortable, yes, but I know it is all worth it in the end! Adam is in playing for the Charlotte Knights this season and will have the best shot at making it home in time if we set a date for this little one to come. So that's what we did! It works out that Adam and the team are in Columbus, OH at that time so that makes it even easier (shorter distance) for him to travel home.

The plan is to admit 5pm on April 27th and have Adam come home really early in the morning on the 28th when they will start pitocin to get my labor moving. Of course all this depends on me not going into labor in the next 11 days! Please pray that she stays put!! I know we are both nervous and excited but absolutely cannot wait to meet our little girl!!

Today's plan: come up with my to-do list for the next ten days! #1 get the nursery completely organized! Pictures to come!

Pregnancy Brain

So I got pregnant everyone told me about this thing "pregnancy brain." Apparently being pregnant makes you loose your mind occasionally....well, I can confirm this is true!

Over the course of the past eight months I have done sill little things that I guess can fall into the category of pregnancy brain but the third trimester and specifically the last week have really affirmed the fact that I have lost it!

Last week I shipped Adam's car to him in Charlotte, where he is for the season, with my keys in his jeep....oops :( and I seem to have misplaced my extra set! Today takes the cake though! I ran to the grocery store to get a couple things (two bags worth) I checked out, put the cart away and got into the car and drove home. I walked in the door, checked the laundry, went into the kitchen with the mail and looked around...."where are the groceries I just bought?" In the car? No, I left them back at the store in the cart...hmm. I drove back to the grocery store in the rain and they were still in the cart in the parking lot, just a little wet.

So, "pregnancy brain" is real, I have it and I want it gone. Bad news is I heard "new mommy brain" is worse! Add sleep deprivation into the mix and this could get ugly! A long update is coming soon, as promised a month or so ago. Yes, I know I am being terrible lately but I have a lot on my plate right now.

Quick baby update: The end is in sight! Thank goodness! I don't know how much longer I can last. I am uncomfortable and tired but I know it will all be worth it in less than a month!! I am at the doctor every week now and everything looks great, baby looks great and things are moving along. I will keep everyone updated as the days wind down! Nursery is almost done (nothing like waiting until the last minute!) Clothes are washed and I have a baby shower this weekend! Can't wait to see all my family and friends! Love to all!

PS: The Daddy-to-be is doing well and done with Spring Training! Now he is just getting the season started and waiting for the phone call to come home!

Not Quite an Update

So I know I am looooooong overdo for an update!!! Sorry everyone! The past two months have been so busy I don't even know where they went! It seems like every time I sit down to write an update I either fall asleep, think about falling asleep or just feel yucky (ugh heartburn)! I promise an update is coming soon but tonight I am really not up to it :(

I do want to post a picture of our little girl though! Less than 8 weeks until she is in our arms!
The picture is from 30 weeks and if you can't tell....she most definitely has my nose and Adam's lips!
