She is here!

Well, Our little precious lady arrived a week ago! And I am now getting a chance to update our blog with the news...we have been busy :)

Anniston Grace Ricks ("Annie") arrived April 28th at 2:07am. She was 7lbs 4oz and 20 inches long! It was a wonderful experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. You feel so empowered and holding that baby at the end was something I will never forget! She is truly a dream come true! Also, I am pretty sure we set some sort of record for delivery and everything because no one ever thought it would go that fast!

We had set up an induction for the morning of the 28th (6am ish) so that Adam would fly in and be there. The plan though was that since I was not progressing on my own at all that the doctor would use Cervadil overnight on Tuesday to get me ready for the Pitocin (induction med) on Wednesday morning. My mom took me to the hospital at 5 on Tuesday night and I got settled in, saw my doctor who said still nothing going on yet, and then got the Cervadil. I remember my doctor standing in my room saying "Cervadil hardly ever puts anyone into labor, you'll just feel crampy and then we will get things going in the morning..." Kiss of death?, I think so!

Within an hour of getting the Cervadil, I was miserable, asking for anything to take the pain away, and getting looks from the nurses like, "this girl is in for it if she thinks Cervadil hurts" After much begging to be checked and take the Cervadil out, they gave in and checked me. Low and behold, I was 2cm dilated! After two hours of crazy pain and contractions right on top of each other I was checked and told I was 5 and my water then broke. At this point my mom had gone home...I was just suppose to be crampy and getting some sleep so she had left....I called her back and told her she needed to get back her NOW! I got my epidural and was comfortable for maybe two more hours and then I was 8 cm and the dreaded call to Adam had to be made. He wasn't going to make it in time :( I was for sure going to deliver before 7:30am the next morning.

And sure enough, after 40 minutes of pushing, our angel was here, and her daddy was listening to it all on speaker phone. I can't imagine how long this night was for him knowing his baby girl was here and he couldn't see her yet! He got in the next morning at 7:30 and we got to spend Wednesday, Thursday together in the hospital, came home Friday and Daddy had to go back to baseball on Saturday early morning. I know it was probably the hardest thing he has ever had to do :( Annie and I miss him so much but are adjusting and getting into a routine. I am loving on my little lady every chance I get...cuddling, kissing and snuggling and actually enjoying my time in the middle of the night with her...it is so peaceful in the middle of the night and I could just stare at her forever!

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and congrats! They mean the world to us!

Time to go, my best girl is waking up and looks hungry! I am truly loving mommyhood so far and promise to post as much as Annie allows me to :) What a journey we are on!
